Nosebleeds or epistaxis is a relatively common occurrence involving haemorrhage and consequent bleeding from the nose. Whilst the condition is rarely fatal, in some cases the blood can flow down into the stomach and cause nausea and vomiting.

Causes of nosebleeds are numerous. Nosebleeds are often due to the rupture of a blood vessel within the nasal mucosa tissue. Rupture may be spontaneous or initiated by trauma.
